… You’re relaxed and ready for work.
But mostly, you’re ready for some post-work, you know, get-togethering. We know a place that’s perfect for you: meet The Ainsworth.
Perhaps you’ve heard a little about the city’s newest gastrolounge/ultra sports bar. That it sprawls over 6,000 square feet and boasts 40 flat-screens and yet somehow manages to feel perfectly balanced in its rustic chicness. You can credit the bar/restaurant’s good looks (and great sound system) to the same crew behind Dune in Southampton.
As for the food, culinary kudos go to Chef Dave Feimster and his American Fusion menu. For starters, there’s Wild Mushroom Pizza, Truffle Potato Wedges, Pineapple Ribs, and Lobster Po’ Boy Sliders (check out the menus). And when you get thirsty from all that gastro-goodness, you can count on stiff drinks like the refreshing signature cocktail, The Ainsworth, made with vanilla vodka, St. Germain Elderflower, chamomile tea, and fresh lime juice.
Now, back to work…
The Ainsworth is now in soft-open and opens to the public tonight next Thursday (9/17). Check out more pics with our special slideshow.

The Ainsworth is O So Mega
![]()
Talk about a larger than life moniker, the new description for the Ainsworth Megagastropub,
makes me think it’s located in space.
I suppose that means it’s a giant venue, and it is pretty huge at 6000 square feet. So why not have
it be grand in food, style, ambiance? The Chelsea bar, located on 122 W. 26th Street, looks set to
accomplish this feat too.
There will be 40 or so flat panel TV’s so the sports-pub aspect is covered well, perfect with
football season heating up. Ample space and an open interior allow the venue to be used for
events and launches easily, which is exactly what the owners hope will happen.
Matt Shendell, owner of Dune and The Hill, is opening The Ainsworth. The elaborate restaurant,
sorry I mean megagastropub, is going to be a fusion of classic American fare with a mix of
spices from around the world. The menu includes pineapple ribs, grilled pork chops, miso duck
spring rolls, and wild mushroom pizza. Shendell said that along with the stellar fusion menu, the
Ainsworth will be, “…a first class bar and a visually stimulating décor culminating in the
ultimate drinking and dining experience.”The Ainsworth is having a soft opening on Wednesday, so if you want to see a main dining room
with wrought iron gates sectioning you off from “antiqued pine walls and aged mirrors” while
you sip your luxurious cocktails, go check it out. [UrbanDaddy]

Ainsworth Opens Tonight in Chelsea
The Ainsworth, a new sports bar in Chelsea from the people who brought you the Hill, opens tonight. Like its Murray Hill predecessor, the Ainsworth has lots of TVs parked in a 6,000-square-foot glossy lounge setting with “American-fusion” food that’s a bit more adventurous than your wings-and-a-pitcher neighborhood standby. Rest assured, there are still wings — of the “garlic and chili” variety.
Starting September 14, you can watch Monday Night Football with a real-life New York Giant linebacker Danny Clark. The MNF parties are ticketed: $75 covers an open bar, food, and “unobstructed TV views from any angle.” (Proceeds benefit the Danny Clark Foundation, which benefits underserved youth.)

The First Megagastropub – UrbanDaddy

Every now and again the grace and majesty of the English language prevent us from fully expressing the magnitude of our discoveries.
So we’re forced to go outside the bounds of common language and make some s*** up.
Like “megagastropub.”
Prepare yourself for the majesty of the world’s first megagastropub: it’s called The Ainsworth and it soft opens on Wednesday in a big way (literally).
Imagine, if you will, the harmonious marriage of a gastropub and the sportsbook at Caesars—minus the gambling, smoking and velour jumpsuits—and you start to get an idea of the enormity of the Ainsworth.
When we tell you it’s big, we mean it—we’re talking 6000 square feet, 40 flat-screen TVs, wrought iron gates dividing three sections of the restaurant and a gigantic antique pinewood bar backed by antique mirrors and ornate black-gold wallpaper running the length of the space.
And this place is best used for casual bouts of spontaneous happy hour—just start with a few bourbons at the bar, and without knowing it, you’ll likely end up staying for a few Miso Duck Spring Rolls and Pineapple Ribs before you realize there are 40 glistening new TVs quietly biding their time for football season above you.
So you’ll be back, on the first Saturday of college football, or the first Sunday of the NFL, ready to soak in more football footage than Al Michaels with the sound on, as you snack on Lobster Po’Boys and Jumbo Burgers.
Let the games begin…
